Send Janet to School!

As we are fortunate enough to be going back to school this fall ...
Meet Janet ... a 18-year old girl in Kenya, thanks to our efforts to fundraise, has escaped the terrible practices of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and went to her first day of school on, January 23rd, 2017!
FGM is the act of female genital cutting and female circumcision. It is the unwanted, unsanitary, forceful removal of some or all of the external female genitalia. FGM is a 'passage into womanhood' in many cultures and is still practiced today due to the lack of education about the topic. It is a scarring and gruesome event and something that no girl should ever have to go through. Not only that, it leaves the girls with physical complications that they have to deal with for the rest of their lives.
A few years ago, at my family's annual garage sale, a woman came searching for colorful bags and other goodies. When asking why, she told me her name and her story: two things I'll never forget. Her name is Sayydah Garrett and she is the president of the Pastoralist Child Foundation. She was in search of bags, stickers, or whatever I had to offer to give to tons of girls in Kenya. The goal of her organization is to educate young girls and prevent something that most of us are lucky to not have to worry about: FGM.
The goal of Girls for Good is to raise money to sponsor a young girl to escape FGM and forced early marriage by going to school! Sofia Badalamenti and I were able to raise enough for two full years of schooling, as well as protection from the practices of FGM.
Janet began Form 3 (grade 11) on January 7, 2019, and our new goal is to raise $500 by the end of the summer for the coming months!
We need your help to raise money for her to complete her high school education (three more semesters).
Please spread the word to help Janet finish schooling, but also to aid us in putting an end to FGM! Thank you in advance!
And please watch the video that is below so you can see how appreciative Janet is for everything we have all done for her!
