Send an SRO Family to White House Easter Egg Roll

Tax deductible

The Su Family lives in Single-Room Occupancy housing in San Francisco’s Chinatown. The family along with their 9-year-old daughter, Fifianna Wensi Jiang Su, has the opportunity to visit the White House for the annual Easter Egg Roll on April 10, 2023. We are starting a GoFundMe in order to raise money for the Su Family's trip. Donations will cover the cost of airfare and lodging for the family. Your support makes the Su Family’s dream trip to the White House for Easter a reality.

Family life in Single-Room Occupancy housing (SROs) is extremely difficult. SROs are housing of the last resort for many people and can be 10' x 10' in size with shared communal kitchens and bathrooms. Many families are trapped in SROs and are unable to afford decent housing and a way to better their children’s lives. The impact on children includes challenges from lack of space to grow up, and privacy for play or homework. Outside of the SROs, the families have access to limited open space through San Francisco Chinatown’s parks and the neighborhood’s alleyways for play and recreation.

Regular days and holidays are all the same. This Easter holiday most SRO families spend much of their time staying at home in cramped living spaces with little room to play and celebrate the holiday.

For the Su Family, a life-changing trip to the White House with their 9-year-old daughter Fifianna can be a reality with your help. Visiting the White House would be an eye-opening experience and a life-changing opportunity for a family living in an SRO. Field trips provide essential learning and growth opportunities for youth. Many people say travel is the best form of education.

The White House Easter Egg Roll is an annual event and a time-honored tradition since 1878 that takes place on the South Lawn of the White House. The event may include children from all 50 U.S. states and is for children ages 12 and under.

The event may feature activities such as The Easter Egg Roll, Easter Egg Hunt, Cookie decorating, Egg Dying, Coloring, Story-time, Character Photos, and Music.

We will be documenting the Su Family's White House trip that we will share with you in updates.

Help the Su Family reach the White House this Easter. 9-year-old Fifianna will have a lifetime of memories from this trip. The opportunity and experience will not be possible without your support. We are seeking your help to raise $6,000. No gift is too small. Thank you so much for your kindness!

Special thank you to National CAPACD and The White House's Office of Public Engagement for the White House Easter Egg Roll tickets.
