Send Heather to the Democratic Convention 4 Bernie

Donation protected
Hello brothers and sisters!

I am so excited and humbled to have been elected and assigned as a delegate New Hampshire to the National Democratic Convention this July in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to represent Senator Bernie Sanders. There is a lot to prepare for and right now some of that is still unknown but I have heard that it can cost over $4,000 for the entire trip and we as delegates are expected to pay our own way. If I have any funds leftover or go over my goal (wouldn't that be amazing!), I will either donate those funds to the Bernie campaign or other good New Hampshire progressive candidates.

For those of you who don’t know me, I grew up  in Cheshire County and my father was a conservative state representative. As contentious as our relationship was, I am also grateful for my dad because he made an early impression on me that absolutely anyone can get into politics.

I am also grateful for Bernie Sanders, because my life this been forever changed because of him; and this campaign; and all of the people it brings with it.

Growing up,  I generally avoided talking about politics because it was so divisive in my household. I supported Democratic candidates through voting, bumper stickers and yard signs and I thought that was enough. Bernie’s campaign was the first campaign I had ever canvassed, phone-banked or organized events for and eventually catapulted myself into a new career as a regional grassroots organizer for Rights and Democracy  (or RAD for short radnh.org)

In fact, I struggled to get by my entire life and my father never understood the political dynamics that created the system which failed me. I also didn't realize that I had any power to do anything about the things I wanted to change.

In 2016, we all helped Bernie win New Hampshire and strongly. It was also around the time that I was elected to RAD NH’s leadership committee, helped create our endorsement process and I also helped co-found The Monadnock Progressive Alliance, a local RAD chapter who just celebrated their 3rd anniversary. And on primary day, I will celebrate my 2nd year anniversary of being on staff at RAD and by voting for Bernie Sanders!

Most importantly, we have built relationships; with each other, and with allied organizations and we have begun to build a network of real people power, building on many of the ideas that Bernie’s campaign brought into the public arena. Like A Green New Deal, like Medicare For All,  Strong Public Education, and Bernie showed us that it is possible to raise enough funds for these campaigns not by taking large corporate donations but with smaller donations from actual people.

Since then, some of us have dug into different issue campaigns, run for office up and down the ballot- And some of us have bird-dogged almost every presidential candidate and many of have us come back to this conclusion- that Bernie ultimately is the one we trust to get the job done. We have built so much here in the Granite State and with our allies across the state and country and we are poised to win the next election because we have put in the hard work and will continue to do so after this election.

Thank you all for stepping up and getting involved and sometimes stepping out of your comfort zone.  Together we are building this movement and with all of us together we are showing that we can also fund our revolution into the future! Thank you so much for your donation and helping me get to the convention!
