Selma to Montgomery Walk
Donation protected
March 21-25, 1965 - A peaceful march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama took place. These 50 miles were walked to raise awareness of difficulties facing the black population of Selma, Alabama, and the entire United States and to spur the nation to action.
Now, more than 55 years later, some of these issues have entered the public consciousness again.
I will be attempting to make the walk from Selma to Montgomery.
This walk will be accompanied with updates on social media about my walk, the 1965 walk, and its significance here in 2020. I will be taking pledges for each mile to be donated to the NAACP (www.naacp.org)
This campaign is to raise money for travel to and from Alabama as well as the supplies that would be needed for a multi-day hike. If I raise more than I need, the excess will be donated to the same organization that will receive the pledge money.
There is still work to be done. In these days when there is a question of what action will actually be helpful, I am simply trying to do what little I can. Any support that you would be able to give would be incredibly meaningful.
Blessings,
-Jason
