One of our members has been sober 25 years, and has been involved with the oldest recovery home on the west coast . He was a  resident, then a volunteer teacher.  He knows how to rebuild a life, and help others do the same.  In California, most recovery homes have moved away from  a tried and true 12 step program/social model.   In may of 2018, we started a small 12 step/social model  based program. Our group,  SOS Group is based on, " one drunk helping another."   We bring people in off the streets,  give them a safe environment to get started on a new way of  life.  Within a few weeks, we  help them get into a program, (if needed) or get a job.   We are NOT a recovery home.   This was created out of a need to allow people to be safe and sober while they wait to get into a county funded program or back to their family. Social models work. Over a transitional period (6 months) they re-enter society as a productive member.   We have meetings everyday of the week, and strong support from the recovery community.   In our short history,  using old fashioned,  FREE 12 step methods, we have  tremendous success; 60% of  the 75 men and women who have past through our doors, left better than they arrived
