Turn R25 into 50 vegetables for school children

Seeds That Feed

Change doesn’t usually start with a big donation.
More often, it starts when many people choose one small, consistent action — and share it.

Across many rural schools in South Africa, children arrive each day ready to learn, but without reliable access to clean water or nutritious food. When schools don’t have water, even basic facilities struggle to function — and the opportunity to grow food simply doesn’t exist.

Seeds That Feed was created to change that, in a practical and lasting way.

We begin by installing rainwater-harvesting tanks at under-resourced schools, providing a reliable water supply for essential facilities such as toilets, handwashing stations and kitchens. Once these needs are met, the same water is used to establish school growing spaces, turning unused land into productive gardens that are cared for by the school.

And then something powerful happens.

A single packet of seeds costs just R25 (approx £1 / $1.25) and can grow up to 25 vegetables. Through our partnership with Living Seeds and their Imbewu Initiative, every packet purchased is matched with another one donated — meaning your R25 can grow up to 50 vegetables.

Those vegetables can help provide lunch for up to 10 children.

While once-off donations are always welcome, the real strength of Seeds That Feed lies in many people giving a small amount regularly — and sharing the initiative far and wide. If just 100 people give R25, together we can grow enough vegetables to help feed up to 200 children for a month.

Now imagine the impact of choosing to give that R25 each month — and encouraging others to do the same. Small, regular contributions add up to gardens that keep growing, meals that keep coming, and schools that are better supported season after season.

This isn’t a short-term fix.
It’s about water that keeps flowing, food that keeps growing, and change that lasts.

Sometimes, the smallest contribution — shared widely — creates the biggest harvest.
