Help us continue to give child abuse victims and families a voice in northeast Wisconsin.
When we started Seeds from Seeds in 2015, it was personal. Now, we've seen the uplifting power of bringing together families affected by child abuse and neglect. Sarah and I have spent two years shaping this grassroots organization. Gathering families, talking with traumatized local parents over the phone, helping families connect with area professionals and resources. Ensuring families don’t feel like they’re alone. This is our urgent uplifting. For our children. For our community.
Now, with the help of some of these remarkable families this is time for child abuse victims and families to be heard.
When our son, Efrem, became the victim of Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS) at the hands of his daycare provider in January, 2013, he was seven months old (read our story ). For nearly two years of investigation, court hearings and follow up visits with pediatric neuro and eye specialists, as parents of an SBS victim we felt rifts tear open familiar ground between us and the community, in some instances even longtime friends.
We existed only on our island of shame: How could we let this happen to our child? Let’s not forget the perpetual smog of victimization: Who can we trust? Did this happen? How could a person do this to any child?
But, this is no time to be silent.
How can you help? Northeast Wisconsin is too quiet about the frequency of child abuse – a stance which only perpetuates the traumatization and withdrawal of families and children. You can help us fund our area child abuse awareness initiatives in 2017.
We’re hoping to raise $3,000 to:
- Support our Pinwheel Project awareness campaign into neighborhoods and area businesses for Child Abuse Awareness month (April)
- Hold community fun day at an area park in late summer or fall (more details to come)
- Design and produce comfort totes and collect care/comfort items for families admitted into area hospitals because their child was abused
- Design and produce collateral (ex: brochures, website, etc.)
Who are we at Seeds from Seeds?
We’re giving voice and spreading hope for victims and families affected by child abuse and neglect crimes.
Our Mission: To foster a community of support and resources for all who are affected by child abuse and neglect crimes in Brown County.
Our Vision: A community that is more aware of, educated about and ready to take action opposing violence against children.
Our Values: We treasure every person’s unique experience.
Privacy is your choice.
Strength in numbers: We believe greater voice means more hope.
The more we share, the more we know, the greater difference we can make together.
