Empowering Mothers, Uplifting Generations
Tiyende Women’s Collective – A Grassroots Movement for Women in Malawi
Fundraising Goal: $6,000
In Malawi, nearly 70% of the population lives on less than $2.15 a day, making it one of the poorest countries in the world. Over 90% of those living in poverty are in rural areas, where women carry the daily burden of survival — without electricity, clean water, or access to basic tools for economic independence.
At Vivre Co Australia, our work began in the classroom. In partnership with Bikema Academic Centre, we’ve proudly provided over 70 scholarships to girls living in poverty, offering them access to education, hope, and opportunity. But as we grew closer to the communities, a deeper truth revealed itself:
You can’t keep a girl in school if her mother can’t feed her.
That’s why we created the Tiyende Women’s Collective, in collaboration with Africa Innovate — to go to the root of intergenerational poverty by empowering mothers with tools to rise.
These women are strong, wise, and willing — but they lack access.
Your support helps change that.
What We’re Raising Funds For — Total: $6,000
1. Microloans & Business Training – $3,500
Repayable loans of $200–$300 help women start or grow income-generating businesses (e.g., food stalls, tailoring, farming, soap-making) while also receiving mentorship, skills training, and support.
2. Digital Tools for Learning – $1,200
A laptop ($550), projector, and screen ($650) will enable us to run entrepreneurship, leadership, and financial literacy workshops in rural villages — where access to technology is rare.
3. Facilitator Honorariums & Program Growth – $1,300
Support local grassroots leaders delivering 20+ sessions and help us form new women’s groups across Malawi.
Why This Matters
In a country where:
72% of people live under $2.15/day
Many walk hours to fetch water or wood
Mothers skip meals so their children can eat
Girls often drop out of school to support their families
…We believe it’s time for a new approach.
The Tiyende Women’s Collective isn’t charity — it’s a shift in power.
It’s women leading women, with tools for self-sufficiency, dignity, and transformation.
Our Work Aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
SDG 1: No Poverty – by providing income-generating microloans
SDG 4: Quality Education – through scholarships and adult training
SDG 5: Gender Equality – by equipping women to lead
SDG 8: Decent Work & Economic Growth – supporting small enterprise
SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities – reaching rural, underserved communities
How You Can Help
$50 = startup supplies for a woman’s business
$150 = a toolkit and training for one woman
$300 = a full microloan for a new entrepreneur
$550+ = provides the resources _ tools to teach dozens more
$1,000 = funds ongoing workshops and launches new groups
Every dollar helps us break the cycle — from mother to daughter, and beyond.
