Who this is for:
Hi, My name is Socorro Raudez Reyes, and I live in a remote farming community in Nicaragua called El Balsamo. I am a certified biodynamic farmer, community leader, father and husband. Currently my rural community made up of about 90 families is suffering economically due to our severe isolation ~ 20 miles from any economic activity.
What's the deal:
Myself and my community members have no way of generating money to support ourselves. So we figured lets generate food to support ourselves!
Due to our isolation and economic deprivation, my neighbors and myself are forced to leave our homes and families for months on end as we search for work in foreign countries like Costa Rica. However, often times we return with not enough!
What's the plan:
I have returned home after working abroad, with much less money than I need. I have decided instead to focus all of my efforts on my own garden and the collective food production of my community.
We have collective buy in, however we don't have the adequate funds to purchase what we need!
I will share my vast knowledge of farming and leadership experience to empower El Balsamo to provide sustainable local produce, to our children and families using regenerative agricultural principles.
What we need:
Submersible Pump: $600
Spools of drip line ~$200/1000m
Garden Tools (Shovel $8, Rake/Pick-axe $20)
Local Seeds $3/packet
If you ever wonder if your donations are going to people who actually need it, I can assure you that it will directly uplift our quality of life, and prevent our children from going to sleep hungry at night.
Your support is greatly appreciated! <3
