Security measures for Kathi's safety

My name is Chad, and I am creating this GoFundme on behalf of my incredible mother, Kathi Pinel, who on Christmas this year had her house broken into by a man who violently assaulted her and tried to take her life. Fortunately for my mother, she was able to run out of the house and get help, but we are concerned about her home and the safety measures she needs to ensure nothing like this ever happens again.

Currently, the man is in custody, but due to Costa Rican law, legal processes are not as severe as they are in the US. On top of this Costa Rica has extremely strict slander laws and until this man is prosecuted in court for his horrific crimes, no one will report on the matter. In the meantime and for these reasons, we are urgently hoping to get her funds for a security system, a fence, a dog, and legal fees for the future.

Kathi is out of the hospital and ready to move forward without this man's atrocious behavior stopping her from living in peace. She is a strong woman who has done so much for others and I want to make sure she receives the love and support she deserves.
