Secure Safe Housing for Our Friend in Need
Donation protected
We have a friend who is disabled and on the brink of experiencing homelessness. A collective of friends have put together a plan to get our friend into a safe housing situation for a year. We are arranging to co-sign the lease, put together the funds for the security deposit, etc. Our friend has been in an apartment/condo owned by someone else who was in a position to keep the rent at a level that our friend could afford with his disability payment.
That condo is going to be fixed up and put on the market so our friend has to move. SOON. While working non-stop to find housing he can afford, the wait lists for subsidized/affordable housing are long and there is nothing available at this time. By buying our friend a year, we prevent someone we care about or simply someone who is a very decent human being from being on the streets and missing the medical care and assistance he needs because of his disability.
We are reaching out to all of you to contribute to the monthly rental gap of what our friend can pay and what is considered market rent. We are looking to raise $7,000 which will be managed by us and paid out to the Landlord in monthly increments to cover the balance of the rent due after our friend has paid his share. Please contribute whatever you can and share with others. It takes a Village. This world becomes a much better place when we gather together to help someone else that is in need. Thank you with all of our hearts!
