For generations, Azerbaijani women in Georgia have been weaving stunning, handwoven rugs—each one carrying stories, history, and incredible craftsmanship. reWoven is dedicated to supporting these women make the best carpets in the Caucasus, and to supporting their communities by providing a much needed source of income directly to the women.

We are proud to have been able to help our weavers and their communities since 2014. Before 2020, all our rugs were sent from Georgia to Azerbaijan to be finished--stretched, shaved, washed and beaten to achieve the highest quality product. But since then the Azerbaijani border has been closed, forcing us to adopt stop gap and ersatz methods.

Without a proper finishing station, we are unable to complete their work to the highest standard, limiting our ability to sell these incredible rugs and ensure our weavers--women from some of the most vulnerable communities in Georgia-- earn a regular income.

We’re raising funds to set up a finishing station in Marneuli, the heart of the Azerbaijani community in Georgia. We need to fit out a space with washing and drying facilities, build a special floor on which to stretch the carpets, and purchase the necessary equipment. This will allow us to 'on shore' more of the carpet production process in Georgia, provide more employment and provide a sustainable way for our weavers to support their families while keeping this important tradition alive.
