Secure Joe's House

A little over 2 years ago, our co-worker began a journey we never anticipated. Joe was diagnosed with a brain tumor; an Anaplastic Astrocytoma. Joe spent the initial 6 weeks following his diagnosis being treated with a combination of oral chemotherapy and daily radiation treatments. Once radiation was complete, Joe was treated monthly for the next 18 months with the same oral chemotherapy.

Fast forward to November of 2017, we learned the tumor was no longer responding to the treatment regimen at that time. The decision was made to adjust his treatment plan to intra-arterial chemotherapy that was delivered directly to the site of the brain tumor. After 2 rounds of treatment, Joe developed significant symptoms including headaches, vomiting, seizure activity and memory deficits. Joe's most recent MRI revealed we no longer have control over the brain tumor as it's grown rapidly in a matter of weeks. There are no other treatment options available and the decision was made to transition Joe to hospice care.

Today we started our new journey to assure Joe is kept comfortable and that he is afforded the quality of life he deserves. The RemWhirl family and friends are asking for your help. Funding we raise here will go towards paying off the mortgage on Joe’s house so he can rest knowing his family will have a secure place to live.

We thank you for your donation and continued support and prayers for Joe, his wife Shannon and kids (Nolan and Lucy).
