Hi, my name is Jacqui Slowe, and I’m a mom to two amazing girls—Julia (10) and Jillian (8). I’m reaching out because we are facing foreclosure and the fear of eviction is becoming a very real and immediate threat. We are doing everything we can to stay afloat, but we need help finding a safe place to live once the home is auctioned.
We’ve lived in this house since 2013, when my ex-partner, Justin, and I moved in to build a life together. I stayed home to raise our daughters while he managed the finances. What I didn’t know was that he had stopped paying the mortgage nearly two years ago—without telling me. I only discovered this when a foreclosure notice arrived in March 2025. The home is now scheduled to be auctioned off on July 14, 2025, leaving us with very little time and no guaranteed place to go.
At the same time, I had been enduring years of emotional abuse and coercive control directed at both myself and our daughters. I lived in fear it would escalate to physical violence. In May 2025, I was granted a restraining order for our protection, and Justin was ordered to vacate the home. Since then, despite a court order, he has refused to contribute financially—not to the home, not to me, and not even to support his own children.
On top of everything, I suffered an injury earlier this year that required surgery and left me unable to work or drive for weeks. That delay made it even harder to find employment, but I’ve recently started a part-time job and am actively searching for something with mother’s hours, as I am the girls’ sole caretaker.
Now, we’re left trying to prepare for a future that is completely uncertain. The girls have only ever known this home. Every memory—first steps, birthdays, holidays—is rooted here. They love their school, have strong friendships, and are surrounded by a strong support system throughout the town. They participate in local sports and activities that give them joy, structure, and connection. Uprooting them now would mean losing far more than just a roof over our heads.
State-funded housing wait-lists are upwards of 10 years, and in some towns, there’s no estimated vacancy at all. I’ve applied wherever I can, but there are no immediate options. I want to keep the girls in their current school and near their friends and support system, but it feels like everything is slipping through our fingers.
The funds raised will go directly toward helping us remain in stable housing- whether by working with the bank to stay in our current home, if that becomes an option, or by securing a safe new place to live if we're forced to leave. Your support will help.:
- Save toward a payment if the bank offers a chance to remain in our home
- Cover moving costs and rental deposits if we must relocate
- Help provide essentials for starting over in a new space
- Give my daughters and I a sense of security and stability during this uncertain time
Asking for support is not easy. I’ve always tried to manage everything on my own. But for their sake, I’m putting my pride aside. If you can help us get to the other side of this, we would be endlessly grateful.
Even the smallest donation helps. And if you can't give, simply sharing our story makes more difference than you know. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for standing with us and helping us hold onto our home.
With love and gratitude,
Jacqui, Julia & Jillian
