Help Grandma Betty Find a New Home

Grandma Betty is one of the most selfless souls you will ever meet. As a single mother, she raised five children on her own, always putting her family first. Over the years, four of her children have gone home to be with the Lord, yet her faith, strength, and love have never wavered.

Grandma Betty has always been a giver—whether to family, friends, or complete strangers. She would gladly give her last dime if she believed someone else needed it more. At 90 years old, she still embodies a remarkable spirit of independence.

For more than 20 years, she worked as a security guard. Even at 80, when her company finally insisted she retire, she wasn’t ready to stop. She wanted to keep working, keep living, and keep serving others. That’s just who she is.

Now, at 90, Grandma Betty faces one of her greatest challenges. After living in the same home for over 14 years, her landlord is selling the property. She was given a 90-day notice and must move out by October 30th.

Despite being on every available housing list, we’ve been told the wait could be a year or more. She doesn’t have the funds for assisted living, and while I have offered to bring her to live with me in Alabama, she longs to remain in Maryland, where she has built her life and community. She is still independent—able to cook, clean, and care for herself—though of course she faces the challenges that come with age.

Grandma Betty has spent a lifetime giving without ever asking for anything in return. Now, we are asking for a miracle to help her find a safe and stable home.
