Sean's Seizure Response Dog Fund
Donation protected
Help us get this guy a seizure alert dog!
This goofy boy is Sean.
He is the most loving and hilarious kid. He started having seizures at 2 years old and was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called Christianson’s Syndrome at 4 years old.
Sean’s speech, growth and mental development are also affected by the disorder and his seizures are not controlled. After a number of years he could regress and lose all the development he has learned making him unable to walk and unable but to speak the few words he has learned so far.
Many children who are affected by this disorder die because of a seizure that lasts several minutes. These seizures can happen at any time, but often happen at night or early in the morning.
We are fundraising to get him an assist dog who alerts Sean’s carers when he is having a seizure so they can give him lifesaving medication to stop it.
These dogs are trained for 2 years and are very expensive because they are trained specifically for each child. In order to apply for the service dog, all funds must be in place and then training can start.
We are trying to raise money to help his single mother pay for this much needed companion and give her some peace of mind at night. We are so grateful for your support and appreciate any donations.
I am Sean's Auntie Steph. We live in B.C. Canada. My sister, Danielle, has just heard back from the dog adoption company 4 Paws for Abilities and will be having a meeting with them today to see what exactly Sean's needs are when it comes to a disability dog! All funds from this fundraiser will be going towards payment for training Sean's dog. I will be directly sending my sister the total amount raised from this fundraiser and she will then use it to pay 4 Paws for Abilities at which point dog training can begin.
We want to thank everyone who donated and everyone who shared this fundraiser with people they know. Thank you so much for your kindness and support. You are all so amazing!
