Parents of 1776 sailboat fundraiser

Please help! We're Sea Scout Ship 1776  of San Ramon and we've been sailing our 33 foot sailboat since it was donated in 2007. The engine and transmission have failed and we need to raise $20,000 by the end of October when the work is completed!  Please help with a tax-deductible donation so our Sea Scouts can get back on the water!

On May 2nd we were about to sail back from Berkeley on our first post-covid outing and the boat's 43 year old transmission failed. The picture above shows us being towed all the way back to the boatyard in Alameda.  They don't make the parts anymore so we have to have a new engine and transmission  installed.

We're also having the bottom painted and some additional minor fixes made. We estimate the total cost for repowering our sailboat at $20,000.  Your donation of money or goods are tax-deductible. If you need one we can send you a receipt with our non-profit Tax ID.

Sea Scouts are part of Boy Scouts of America with the mission to teach nautical and general leadership skills to male and female youth, age 14-20.  Membership dues, donations and small fundraisers allow us to pay for slip fees, fuel, insurance and maintenance but major repair work is outside our budget.

We know this is a difficult time for everyone, as we're all still reeling from the lockdown but if you're able to contribute even a small amount it will help us keep offering this excellent experience to the young men and women in our community.
