Scruton House is a public and private space that is the gateway building to The Moorings. The Moorings is a riverside community in Cambridge, born from one family’s commitment to radical hospitality. Over the years, we’ve grown into a thriving space where students, scholars, artists, and pilgrims gather to share ideas, meals, and meaningful conversations.
As a gateway building we are raising funds to establish the first Scruton House in England. It is a cafe, gallery and Fellow's Hub at the top of the street. A place that nurtures deeper learning, fosters spiritual growth and develops future leaders.
What We Are Raising For:
1. Renovations & Facility Upgrades
• Modernise the common spaces for lectures, music nights, and collaborative sessions.
• Upgrading living accommodation and current facilities
2. Program Development
• Launch new conferences, reading groups, and creative workshops that encourage interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Provide structured residencies for scholars and artists seeking a peaceful environment for focused work.
3. Staffing & Operations
• Hire key administrative and hospitality staff to manage daily operations, plan events, and maintain our growing community.
• Cover ongoing expenses like utilities, property upkeep, and new acquisitions.
4. Supporting local artists, music and book launches. At Scruton House (SH) supporting bespoke events with guest speakers such as Mary Harrington, Martin Shaw, Rod Dreher and many more.
