Who We Are

We are the Scotland Men’s Hockey Team. Ranked 17th in the world, a historic high for us as a nation.

We’re not full-time professional athletes. We are students, teachers, and working professionals, balancing careers and studies alongside the demands of elite international sport.

What we all share is a commitment to represent Scotland with pride, passion, and determination at the highest level.

The Challenge in 2026 & 2027

In 2026, we face one of the biggest years in our careers, competing in three major international tournaments:

World Cup Qualifiers – Santiago, Chile

Nations Cup – Cape Town, South Africa

European Qualifiers – Rome, Italy

In 2027 we hope to compete in the European Championships in London against the very best the world has to offer.

These are opportunities to test ourselves against the world’s best and to push Scotland up the international rankings.

The Reality Behind the Dream

Unlike many of the nations we compete against, our programme is largely self-funded. Each player is required to contribute approximately £4,500 this year alone, while also committing up to 40 days of leave — often unpaid — to attend training camps and competitions. Behind every player is a network of family and friends making sacrifices to support us. We are competing against fully professional countries with budgets 30–40 times greater than ours, yet we continue to show up, compete, and fight for Scotland.
