Alex's Eagle Project

My name is Alex Benedetto. I am a Life Scout from Troop 159. Scouting has given me so much in my life, and now it is my turn to give something back.
For my Eagle project, I will build a set of weather stations for the St. Catherine's of Bologna School STEM program. Our STEM program gives students the opportunity to do hands-on science and helps train the scientists of the future.
Weather Station "Eagle"
The first part of the project is to build a electronic weather station mounted to the roof of the school as well as a rain gauge to measure rainfall.
The weather station will be programmed to connect to a computer in the science lab, www.globe.gov and other weather sites such as Weatherbug. There will also be a monitoring station and data logger in the STEM room to continually monitor the station.

The second station will be a board with thermometers and other weather measurement tools mounted to the side of the school.
The reason for having two weather stations is to help students from all classes take advantage of the weather station as a resource. The analog station will be designed for younger students just learning how to take weather measurements and will include tools they may have at home. The electronic weather station will allow older students to take more accurate measurements and track the weather over time and use that information to analyze their data. The students can also compare notes from each weather station.
Fundraising
My goal is to provide a resource for the students at St. Catherine's that they can use for years to come. For that, I need your help. All donations will go directly towards the completion of the project. Any funds that are left over at the end will be donated to the St. Catherine's STEM program.
