Hello! We are thrilled to announce that we are adopting! Thank you for joining us on our adoption journey. Here is a little about us:
Jed & I (Elyssa) have been married for almost seven years, and we have three biological children, ages 4, 3, and 1. We live in the home Jed grew up in, on a small hobby farm in Central NY. I am a mostly stay-at-home mom. However, I also work part-time for a Christian school that I actually had attended as a girl. Jed loves what he does; he works at a small machine shop in town. We enjoy the outdoors and spending time with family and friends. We love Jesus and are very involved with our church and church family.
Both Jed and I have been familiar with adoption through the stories and experiences of friends and family. However, in May of 2022, the Lord planted the seed to adopt in our hearts. We had never personally considered adoption before, but God has made it clear to us that He is calling us to grow our family through domestic adoption. We were first working with a pregnancy care center and adoption agency to meet our adoption goals, but the agency is experiencing some stagnancy so we decided to look for other options. We found an agency in North Carolina that works with NY residents so we applied there! We have completed the application, paid the first fee, and are now in the beginning stages of completing our home study. We are hoping to have an active profile by fall of 2023. We are so excited to have started this journey! God has been so good to us. We cannot wait to see what He has in store for our family!
Many of our friends and family have asked how they can support us throughout this process, and we have two specific needs at this time:
1. We ask that you pray not only for us in this journey but also for the birth mothers and birth families looking into adoption as an option. We don't want to gloss over the fact that adoption is a complicated process full of grief, loss, and love for so many parties involved.
2. Adoption is an expensive process, and we need help financially. We are looking to raise $15,000 and meet the remainder through our own savings and adoption grants. If you are able to give, we thank you so much. We truly appreciate any help that we can get. If you are not in a financial position to give, we are so very thankful for your prayers and support.
We would love to share Jeremiah 29:11 with you. This verse is our theme verse going into this journey. "For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future." We are overcome with peace and excitement as we enter into this new season as a family. We know with confidence that God created us, loves us, has plans for us, and holds our future in His hands. His Word says so! He also examples His love to us in everyday life. So just as He cares for us, He cares for the future child that will someday join our family. We are patiently and excitedly waiting to see His plan revealed.
Love, The Schreppel Family
