School Supplies for Native American Children

Goal: Give 10,000 Native American children 1 notebook, 3 pens, 10 pencils, 1 binder, and 1 pack of paper by the start of the next school year.

That makes the basics, like being prepared for school, difficult for many young Native Americans across the country. The future of the race depends on a strong education. Strong education could lead to more NAs attending college, and creating more economic mobility for their families.

I am a second-generation college student on the native side of my family. My dad making it through college, and entering the middle class was seen as a HUGE accomplishment in my family, and I hope to see our bloodline as well as every Native American bloodline prosper through the opportunities that come from proper access to education.

Instead of doing a school supply drive, which is more costly for donors and complicated to distribute, I found options to buy supplies in bulk at a discount, which is why this amount of money is able to impact so many kids.

My name is Indigo Stephens and I created the 574 Tribes Thrive mutual aid project to help provide tribes struggling with poverty and food insecurity have their basic needs met, with an intense focus on bringing our issues into more popular conversations today, as well as using innovative and integrative methods for actualizing substantial mutual aid, and a more collaborative, community-based push towards LANDBACK in solidarity with like-minded people and establishments.
