School Fees to help a Single Father in Zimbabwe
Donation protected
Meet Albert. A good man doing everything humanly possible to raise two amazing little girls on his own in Zimbabwe.
Since the sad passing of his wife a couple of years ago, he has found himself juggling their two young ones with his job as a shopping center security guard. And, as is the case for many here, his humble monthly wage generally doesn't cover his living expenses - there is little time/opportunity for a side hustle either.
With Zimbabwe's worsening economy and daily challenges, it's no easy place for the average person to get by, let alone for a single parent doing it on a bog-standard Zimbabwean salary. For him the daily grind involves getting up at 4am to organise his kids for school before heading out to fight for informal transport into town to get to work. His job requires him to be on his feet from 6am to 6pm, 7 days a week. And, with the ever-worseining water crisis, it's not uncommon for him to be found in the queue at the community well nearing on midnight a few times a week to fill the containers that provide the household with water for another few days.
Regardless of his situation, Albert is one of those amazing souls who STILL goes about it all with so much heart. He always seems ready with a joke and a smile and I always find myself marvelling at his energy.
I really hope to be able to give him some relief again this Christmas…
As they get older, his biggest concern is for his girls' schooling. Not only for rising cost of school fees, but for the school uniforms, books, being able to afford the school outings etc etc. So, the thinking is that it would take a massive load off his shoulders for Christmas to raise enough money to help cover at least some of it in 2025.
It’s a temporary respite, but one that I know would mean the world. Please consider gifting him a small donation to go toward my goal. Honestly, even if we don't hit the mark, anything (including just a simple message of support) will go a long way for a seriously wonderful Dad who, once again, will be working his way through the festive season.
With love and thanks, Lan x
