My name is Tom, I am 15 years old and I have been a Fire Cadet with Cheshire Fire & Rescue for three years. I hope, in the future, to have a career with the Fire & Rescue Service.
In October 2020 I will travel to Nepal for 16 days with my fellow cadets, leaders and the charity, Classrooms in the Clouds (www.classroomsintheclouds.org, charity no. SCO38623) to help complete the build on an earthquake proof school in a remote village.
I will be fundraising throughout 2019/20 and as an individual am required to raise £3600 toward the £70k+ total needed to complete this build. My fundraising efforts so far include Car Boot Sales, Ladies Afternoon Tea, a Charity BBQ, Supermarket Bag Packs, School Events, 80's Night and the Manchester 100 Sponsored Bike Ride.
Since the tragic earthquake that hit Nepal in April 2015 the country is still re-building. The funds that I raise will go directly to the Nepalese village and allow their own tradespeople to build the school, toilet facilities and buy furniture. During our visit we will help to complete the build and hand the school back to the village and the young people who so desperately need an education.
Currently 71.6% of males and 44.5% of females in Nepal do not have any form of education! This new school will make a real difference to children's lives for generations to come and this is something that I feel very proud and privileged to be a part of.
Thank you to everyone who has made a donation to this GoFundMe page or been involved in one of my fund raising events.
