SC Black Wellness Database - Help us!

Donation protected

In 2020, CREW started work on the Black Therapist List for SC. This list grew into an even bigger idea: The Black Wellness Project. We started fundraising for this project in December of 2020 and raised $271.66. We appreciate all who have donated, shared, and offered encouragement during our fundraising efforts. At the moment, we have a real need to keep that energy going.

To be transparent, we are desperately trying to keep the lights and wifi on, as well as compensate community contractors, so that we can continue with data collection and database building. We understand that times are hard for everyone right now. When we decided to launch this project, we underestimated just how crucial this work would become to everyone involved, especially in the midst of the current political climate and global public health crisis.

We wouldn't ask for support in this way if we did not absolutely need it. These funds are essential to our ability to continue to build the Black Wellness Database. With the help of our community, we were able to raise $3,500 during the month of February. Our goal is to raise another $7,000 by the end of March. $4,000 of this amount will be used to start the development of the database website, with the rest going towards community contractors, data collection,  and management. Will you help us? Can we count on you to make a $100 donation today?

All monetary donations are welcome. If you know of any grant opportunities that we can pursue, please message us! We would love to apply.

Who is CREW?

Community Resources for Enduring Wellness, better known as CREW, was formally established in 2020. We are a 501(C)(3) organization based in South Carolina. Our mission is to utilize a multi-prong approach to community wellness by bridging resources, issuing strategic support, and increasing accessibility to resources for marginalized communities who demonstrate a need for public health and wellness programming. Our vision is for all communities to have equitable, trusted access to quality care and resources which support and promote whole-body wellness.

What is the Black Wellness Project?

Imagine not having to depend solely on your group chat to find a Black therapist, or a Black OB-GYN. Searching 15+ pages of Google search results for a Black therapist during a crisis is ridiculous. Our team’s personal struggles, as well as the experiences of our community, have informed the need to create a central resource for Black Wellness practitioners. The Black Wellness Project sources, compiles, and organizes Black public health and wellness professional data. We are starting with our home state of South Carolina, and we plan to expand this database to other states in the near future.

We are so grateful for your support!
