SBWorkersUnited Ithaca Strike and Relief Fund!

Donation protected
This is a new fund for strikes and relief during this tumultuous time!

Last June, Starbucks announced that it would be closing the College Avenue store in Ithaca, NY. Now, this May, the remaining two stores in Ithaca, Commons and South Meadows, will be permanently shuttered as well. Ithaca was the only city in the United States with 100% union density at Starbucks locations. 100% unionized, and now, 100% shut down.

The union busting has been egregious up to this point as well. We have been understaffed, yet under-scheduled. Our hours and labor were slashed for a very long time until we fought back. Recently, we collaborated with HuffPost to release an article about the College Avenue closure, as it was decided by upper corporate executives in a series of emails. We believe the bad press led to Starbucks' ultimate decision to retaliatorily shut down our stores.

We don't just feel this hurt as workers but as a community. Ithacans rely on Starbucks for their coffee and for us to make their days even a little bit better. Let's work together to make things right: help us by taking part in a series of actions over the next three weeks to put pressure on Starbucks over this decision. If you can't participate, please donate to this fund so that many of us workers can participate. Your money will contribute to workers' wellbeing so they don't have to worry about where their next paychecks will come from during this difficult time. Thank you for your support.
