On January 7th, 2026, my family's home caught on fire while we were inside, and we have been displaced from our home for the next 3-6 months. Although no one was injured, this traumatic life event has devastated our family of seven ( 5 humans and 2 dogs, Riot & Posie).

Our home, as it stands, has been destroyed in the following areas (garage, attic, all floors and ceilings, etc.) The overall damage is, at my estimate, about 65%. We are currently dealing with the difficulties of the pressures of being forced to move from our home at the blink of an eye.

Thankfully, our insurance is covering a majority of the restoration efforts in our home, which will take an estimated 6-8 months, pending investigation by our insurance adjuster.

However, until that time when we move into long-term housing, we are living out of a hotel room with little access to luxuries like a stove, a washing machine, or a yard for our dogs to play. For these reasons, my family has had to pay for these unexpected but necessary expenses out-of-pocket (Food, laundry, and doggy daycare).
