Christie’s

A week before Christmas, I got the news that you never really think is going to happen to you. My sister, Janine was diagnosed with Cancer. All over Christmas it was a waiting game, whilst she had more tests to see what type of cancer it was and what stage. Janine was told she had Stage 3 Hodgkin Lymphoma but thank god she could have treatment. She was to have intensive Chemo followed by radiotherapy.

Janine has started her chemo at Christie’s and all I can is, is that no words can express how cruel and brutal Chemo and this disease can be. Janine got admitted to Christie’s because the chemo was that intense her body starting failing and they had to put the chemo on hold. She couldn’t eat and lost 2 stone within weeks.

To see someone you love go through so much suffering is heartbreaking and I can honestly say I have been so naive all these years to how much pain it causes not only the patient but the family too. For me personally, it has broken me and I found it extremely hard to process whilst trying to stay strong in front of my sister.

Everyone knows somebody who in one way or another has been impacted by cancer, but when it is someone so close to you, you can physically feel your heart aching.

Even though I have always lived in Manchester, I never thought that I would ever need Christie’s especially not for someone so close to me. After witnessing the amazing care, kindness and support Christie’s have offered my sister and them literally saving her life, I felt like I needed to channel my energy into something positive.

So on the 10th May I will be doing a sponsored 6 hour circuit at Bodyhub Wilmslow. If you would like to join me for an hour or even more please contact me so I know numbers for the day. It will start at 11am every hour on the hour. To take part in one of the circuits, it will be £10 and all proceeds go to Christie’s and my godundme page if you would like to sponsor me, no matter how small every penny counts.
