Say No to Woodhurst Medical Waste Incinerator

We still have an outstanding solicitor bill that needs settling by POWI. As I’m sure you can appreciate, we have had to make decisions to proceed in getting the legal advice and it felt imperative to make sure we had evidence, expert data and legal advice prior to the appeal meetings. We have been lucky so far to have paid the majority of the fees so we now do not want to be behind in payments, particularly as we will not have a decision until August. We appreciate everything Buxton Solictors have done for the local residents. We do believe we would already have the incinerator up and running had we not sought good solid legal advice. However, we do not want to be in a position where the admin team behind the scenes of POWI are left to settle this bill themselves. We also do not want to be in a position where Buxton Solicitors will no longer support us legally going forward due to an unpaid bill.

 Whatever the decision, this certainly will not be over for us or for Envar as we have previously seen from across the country with other residents battling incinerators. Even when incinerators have been rejected, we face the possibility of other things being put in its place. We have to remain on the ball with this for a long time we believe.

We the admin team behind POWI have had regularly weekly meetings, taken time out of our busy lives and workloads as well as donated ourselves generously to the legal fees as well as attended all the council meetings. We have taken time off work to be able to give our all to the POWI group. Please donate as generously as possible and as soon as you can as we have given so much of our free time to POWI. Please do not leave the admin team with a solicitor’s bill to face alone which may cause huge issues for us taking this forward for you all. Many thanks

Previous:- Hello, We are POWI, People Opposing Woodhurst Incinerator (see us on our Facebook page). We need to do this as quickly as possible as the timescales are very tight. Incinerators pollute our air and have shown to release cancer causing toxins. We do not want to be breathing this in daily.Somersham Road, the McDonald’s roundabout are already congested areas and we do not need more lorries on these roads as they cannot handle what we already have.  We have residents, farmer’s produce, a raptor foundation and other businesses along Somersham Road who would be affected by this being built causing huge financial and health concerns. They also cannot guarantee the local produce or animals will be safe from their toxins entering our food chain. We already can smell this area from St Ives and surrounding villages. Often known as ‘poo corner’ or ‘smelly corner’. Do we really want hospital waste such as body parts, blood and syringes being burnt close by?  Our Fenland landscape would be ruined by this being built as it will be seen from miles away and illuminated at night. Not a great sight for for us to see nor visitors to our lovely area!  Please help us fight this and donate as generously as you can so we are able to continue seeking expert legal advice to fight our case.
