Sadly, longtime 38-year-old neighborhood staple Mario’s Pizza is closing this Friday Nov1. For so long, they have been the go-to slice shop/pie place for all kinds of community, school, family and birthday celebrations, to say nothing of tipsy walks home.

Neighborhood changes including a drop-off in afterschool kids, rapid gentrification, and a proliferation of high-end restaurants have unfortunately combined to bring this longtime institution to a close.

In the spirit of #Brooklyn4Life, the massive pandemic campaign to feed first-responders and keep local eateries humming—started right here in Fort Greene at Graziella’s—we are asking folks to tip the staff of some 25+ years as a thank you for all their great service, some who will be affected by this abrupt closure.

(Perhaps $25 the cost of a large pizza?)

A couple of local fans helped the owner, Syed Babul, so the money will go directly to him to distribute to the staff.
