Hey everyone!

In March, I'm heading back to Savior Children Foundation Orphanage in Ghana with my brother Jake and my cousin Max. This will be my 4th trip to volunteer at this orphanage, and I'm so excited to see some of my favorite people again.

Savior Children Foundation is an orphanage in Kasoa, Ghana run by Mr. Patrick (a former farmer who now takes care of 50+ children) and Mama Pat (his wife who cooks for the volunteers).

The kids at Savior Children Foundation are indescribable... but I'll try anyway. They're optimistic, hard working, fearless, energetic, and FUNNY. They crack me up on a daily basis- whether it be finding 1 roller blade on the street and taking turns pulling each other on it for 3 days straight, or when they tell me to smile by saying "madam, show me your happiness!!"

In 2015 I volunteered at SCF for 3 months. I always wanted to buy the kids treats, but realized I had to pace myself or I'd just always be buying them things. So, we made a biscuit schedule. Every day, I'd take 8 kids out to get biscuits. The groups were assigned so it was a mix of big kids and little kids (this was very important to them). We'd leave the orphanage and walk to a stand on the street. We'd buy 2 loaves of bread (they had to agree on either sugar bread or butter bread as a group and would each get a piece), everyone would get a little bag of groundnuts (the bag is about the size of a bouncy ball) and their favorite part is they each get to pick out their own biscuit (small serving of a cookie or cracker). In total, this costs 20 Ghana Cedi a day, which is equal to $0.52 (USD) per child... and the kid's are SO happy.

Here's a picture from one of our biscuit trips.

They feel special that they were chosen in a small group to leave the orphanage for a trip. They feel excited for days leading up to their turn, and they constantly ask me whose day it is and try to trick me into thinking it's their group's turn. They feel in charge because they can choose their own biscuit and they have something that 100% belongs to them. Most of the kids don't even eat their biscuits for days.. they save it and I'll see them sprinkling it in their soupy breakfast or reaching into their pockets to pull it out and show everyone their prize.

So, as I head back to Ghana I'd love to take with me any donations I'm able to collect. Not only could they use some bread, groundnuts and biscuits, but they could also use more substantial meals, clothing (they're always running out of socks and underwear), toothbrushes, soap, bandaids, books... the list goes on and on. One hundred percent of the money collected through this fundraiser will go to the kids at Savior Children Foundation Orphanage in the form of food, clothes, water, school supplies, etc.

Anything you could donate to help fund these expenses would be appreciated. I'm more than happy to send any pictures or videos if you want to see exactly where your money is going... just let me know.

Thank you in advance!
Tory
