Saving lives one AED at a time

Hello everyone, my name is Pansy Holness. I am celebrating my birthday on September 27th. As I reflect on my life and my desire to make a difference in the lives of others, my thoughts brought me back to the community in Jamaica where I was born.

A very small and special community, where, unfortunately, there is a lack of medical resources. There are many instances where people were not privileged to have an immediate medical response with resources that could save lives. For example, if someone has a cardiac arrest, it could take up to an hour to get the help that is vital to survive. There are no emergency plans inplace to aid in such a crisis.

Recently, a very prominent member of my community did not survive. I wonder, had an AED been available, would the outcome be different? This is why the idea came to me about sourcing AEDs in communities all over Jamaica (my bigger goal), starting with my community.

I would love to raise the funds, but will need your help, please. In celebration of my birthday and because I need your help, I am asking you for your assistance in helping me reach my goal. Your monetary gift will allow me to start the process of sourcing communities with these vital, effective, and life saving equipment, the Automated External Defibrilators (AED), to help with immediate medical emergencies, such as, cardiac arrest involving the need to resuscitate.

The purpose of this Gofundme is to source the purchasing of AEDs, and facilitate the education to learn how to use this vital equipment, and provide classes to teach the proper way to perform effective CPR.

Thank you for your support and understanding the desperate need I see within the community I grew up in. I am hoping some day this concern and worry will no longer be in my thoughts because of the emergency plan that will be in place to help save lives. My family, neighbors and friends, which constitute my community will be well informed and ready to save lives one AED at a time. Thank you for your continued generosity and support.
