Saving Camp Steiner - Help GRIP6 preserve a 100 year legacy.

A BRIEF HISTORY

In 1929, the highest elevation Boy Scout Camp in the United States was carved out of the rugged Uinta mountains by an army of men and boys. At 10'500 feet, the wilderness landscape of Camp Steiner has helped to shape the lives of over 200,000 young men. The reverence and respect for this wild place has been passed down through generations, creating innumerable naturalists, hunters, climbers, backpackers, hikers, and fisherman. The ripples of it's effect are vast and innumerable. The four owners of GRIP6 were all on staff there, teaching climbing and backpacking to hundreds of boys through the summer of 1999. That bond formed during that summer has stayed with us for over 25 years.

TODAY

A decade ago, the Boy Scouts were faced with an unrecoverable decline in camp attendance. With funding dried up, Camp Steiner fell into disrepair. In 2024, the Forest Service lease on the property was reassigned to a private operator, Shad Stevens is passionate about reiviving the camp to what it once was, only this time opening it up to everyone. With the backlog of maintenance left behind by the Boy Scouts, Shad is up against an ever increasing finacial burden just to make ends meet. With the future success of the camp dependent on outside support, the owners of GRIP6 have decided to step in and do what we can to give back to the place that has given so much to us, but we need your help.

WHAT WE NEED

This is an incredible cause with wide reaching benefits for outdoorsmen and women of all ages. We have industry connections in the fields needed to get the camp back on it's feet - Water and solar systems, building maintenance, construction, and of course marketing. We are asking anyone who is able to donate whatever they can to help us resurrect this amazing place in time for it's 100 year anniversary in 2029. We will utilize 100% of funds donated to improve the camp through industry partners, many of which have ties to Camp Steiner, and have agreed to perform at a reduced rate.
