Save Village of Pinehurst Rentals!

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Cortni! Nick, Brandon, and I are part of the Pinehurst Vacation Rental Association (PVRA). The Mayor and other members of the Village Council are quietly attempting to BAN single-family vacation rentals in Pinehurst. Our group is a non-profit trade association organized to try and stop them. We need your help to fight for our fundamental property rights and to protect our local shops, restaurants, and small businesses that rely on income from the more than 250 vacation rentals in our community.

The Village of Pinehurst is an inclusive family of year-round and seasonal residents, visitors, restaurateurs, golfers, landscapers, retailers, housekeepers, entrepreneurs, builders, realtors, plumbers, electricians, and many others. All of these groups are interwoven into the fabric that makes this town so special, and while some may not realize it, all of these groups benefit from vacation rentals. The vast majority of vacation rental owners in Pinehurst own just one rental property. For some people, including senior citizens, it is their primary source of income and helps maintain their quality of life. Everybody has their own story. There is no evidence that institutional investors own any of the vacation rentals in Pinehurst.

Pinehurst was founded as a resort community in 1895. Since incorporating in 1980, the Village of Pinehurst has continually communicated to property owners and visitors that no restrictions exist on vacation rentals. In that timeframe, the Village has happily accepted occupancy tax revenue and welcomed vacation rental guests who spend generously in the village. Unfortunately, three members of the Pinehurst Village Council are pushing a ban on vacation rentals in most areas zoned single-family residential. This ban would effectively transition Pinehurst away from its rich heritage as a resort community. It will certainly negatively impact Pinehurst’s historic downtown, and it will diminish the quality of life for those who rely on vacation rentals for their livelihood.

We formed the Pinehurst Vacation Rental Association to “Save Village of Pinehurst Rentals.” Please support our efforts by donating to fight against this injustice. We sincerely appreciate a donation of any amount. The GoFundMe account will be used to defend property rights by covering expenses incurred for public relations, professional counsel, and advocacy measures.

“Freedom and property rights are inseparable. You can’t have one without the other.” -George Washington
