The Perth Hills are an endangered species - at risk of being lost to urban sprawl. Our city’s backyard is a rich environment of natural beauty, unique bio-diversity, and a welcoming point of difference from the stresses of high-density suburbia.
Satterley’s proposed North Stoneville housing development threatens to set the precedent for urban sprawl right across Perth’s Darling Range: thousands of trees will become a tsunami of rooftops, and thousands of people will populate high-risk fire zones. Save Perth Hills supports Sustainable, Sensible and Safe communities. Any development must protect this sensitive region which is a major water source for us all, the ‘lungs’ of our city, and a prime tourist destination.
Urban sprawl will rob us of this unique amenity. Once it’s gone – it’s gone forever.
We call on the Shire of Mundaring, the West Australian Planning Commission and our local and political representatives to reject this North Stoneville plan, and this zoning. Help us to protect our Hills from urbanisation, and instead create Sustainable, Sensible and Safe communities that benefit us all. We need to raise community awareness to create capacity for action, and to tell developers that Perth’s Hills are not for sale for suburbia.
