Rebirth Hedonisia Hawaii Community!

On May 26, 2018, the Hedonisia Hawaii Eco-Community  was destroyed by the Kilauea volcano lava flow.

After 14 years of existence in paradise, our community was covered by an ocean of lava. Hedonisia now exists in our photos and hearts.

My name is Mojo Mustapha and I was the owner of Hedonisia Hawaii.

Hedonisia went from a successful community hosting visitors from around the world to losing 90% of its income and assets.

We have received many warm, loving messages from former guests who were positively affected by our community.

Visitors often talked about lifelong connections forged at Hedonisia. EcoTourists liked our green philosophy. Interns and volunteers enjoyed the opportunity to work on the Hedonisia Portfolio of EcoFeminist Entrepreneur Projects.

We did this on a relatively small budget.  We never took charity because we wanted to show that a community business could be idealistic and profitable. Many interns, volunteers, and guests gave loved being able to work on projects they were passionate about.

So now we are ready to Move Forward!

This fundraising campaign is to create a new physical home for the Hedonisia Hawaii  Community Rebirth!

In addition to the original property I own a small piece of land about 10 miles from Hedonisia. It is beautiful with an intimate enchanted look that is ideal for cozy eco-huts.

The local Hawaii government has promised to rebuild roads so we can return to our original property.

After revisiting the property in January 2019 for the first time after the flow, I see that all is not lost. There is one-acre of green land left. It is the upper lip of what used to be our jungle crater. This land have created a feasible plan for rebuilding. However, it will take years as roads and infrastructure are built.

In the meantime, we are starting a mini Hedonisia Art & Creative Colony  our other land in the guava forest. Construction on the first eco-hut is starting in December 2019! We welcome Pioneer Guests, Volunteers or Interns!

Hedonisia will change but will hold the same ideals of sustainable community living, pleasurable activism and promoting gender equality through female empowerment.

The Hedonisia approach of pleasurable activism was very successful in attracting idealistic people. Living in our community was a wonderful place to make lifelong friends!

This photo was taken 2 months before it was destroyed.  We will never be able to recreate pre-volcano Hedonisia. However, we can take the ideas and inspiration from 14 years and create a different an even better eco-community.  We invite you to help us in this effort.
