Save Docktown Marina
We are the 120 residents of 60 yr old Docktown Marina. We are a group of Seniors, young adults, and families who have been living on our assorted floating homes for 20 + years. We are pilots, tech workers, contractors, accountants, and public servants and we are facing the loss of our homes, our life savings, our futures and our retirements.
Redwood City took over management of our badly neglected Marina a few years ago. They want to develop the area with apartments and condos and have told us we are not allowed to be here and cannot stay. The problem is we have NO WHERE to go. Most of our 2 and 3 story homes, 1000 to 2200 sq ft , were built right here. We have been paying property taxes and live-a-board fees since the beginning. The issue of us not being allowed to be here was never disclosed until Redwood City's extreme development explosion.
If we COULD leave we would! There are no other marinas that could take us and Redwood City will not allow anyone else to live in our homes even if we sell them. We cannot leave and we cannot stay!
We are not real estate lawyers but we believe we have rights. We are seeking help to consult real estate attornies to protect our rights and preserve the hundreds of thousands of dollars we have invested in our homes. Our futures and the futures of our childern depend on this.

Just to be clear, Orlene Chartain is our accountant. She is just banking our money for us.
We cannot thank you enough for taking the time to read about our situation and any help you contribute would be tremendously appreciated! Thank you!
