Save Yvonne's Studio: A Sanctuary for Healing

I’m reaching out with a request for a truly incredible person who deserves our help.

Yvonne is not only one of the brightest and most uplifting souls at our hospital, but she is also a shining example of resilience and compassion. As many of you know, Yvonne’s role as a catering assistant has earned her the title of “singing lunch lady.” She brings joy to everyone she encounters—whether it’s through her uplifting songs, her warm smile, or her unwavering kindness. In 2023, Yvonne was even honored as a Hospital Hero in the state of Iowa for going above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of others.

But beyond her work at the hospital, Yvonne has faced unimaginable personal tragedy. In 2018, she lost one of her children, and in 2020, she endured the heartbreaking loss of another. Through these losses, Yvonne turned to art as a way to heal. She created a safe space for others to do the same—opening her art studio as a sanctuary where people can express themselves and experience her art. In addition to her art, Yvonne has written two books, For the Sake of My Family and For the Sake of My Sanity, where she further expresses herself through poetry and personal experiences. With the goal of being able to help support her grandchildren.

Sadly, due to financial difficulties, this sanctuary is now at risk of closing. Yvonne has always been selfless, never wanting others to feel pressured to buy her creations, but the reality is that without help, she may have to close her doors.

If you know Yvonne, you know that she would never ask for help herself. So I’m stepping forward to ask for her. Yvonne’s art studio is not just a place to view beautiful works—it’s a space where people can find healing, joy, and connection. It’s a space she’s poured her heart into, and she deserves the chance to keep it open.
