We are raising money for a provincial level fight at the Ontario Land Tribunal against the City of Vaughan and a developer that wants to disrupt the peace and quiet of our neighbourhood. A fight our city should never have put my family or any neighbourhood in the position to have to spend the money to fight.
The City of Vaughan and a developer want to put 6 and 5 storey rental apartments, shown above, in the middle of my neighbourhood of Glen Shields Avenue. This proposed development will have over 200 parking spaces. Imagine over 200 cars of added traffic delaying you getting to work in the morning or getting home to your family and loved ones in the evenings indefinitely.
Imagine a scenario where your city councillors said they would support your neighbourhood against a proposed rental apartment development they did not want, and petitioned against, then in September of 2023 these councillors turned around and agreed behind closed doors to a 6 and 5 storey version of that rental apartment complex with the developer, without consulting with your neighbourhood. This is the reality my family and I are fighting against and refuse to roll over.
Consider how bad traffic is coming south on Dufferin towards Steeles on mornings going into Toronto, and then coming north on Dufferin to cross over Steeles in the evening rush hour. Do you really want an added 200 cars delaying you getting to work or coming home from work indefinitely?
I have assembled and retained a great team of experts for my family, including a top law firm in Toronto to defend our issues with the proposed development. One of these experts is a Traffic Engineer to defend traffic issues. Issues that everyone impacted by the over 200 cars will face.
Top experts are very expensive, but necessary when the developer has hired one of the top law firms in Toronto. The money raised through this Go Fund Me will be used towards paying a top law firm and experts over the process of this fight and the hearing with the Ontario Land Tribunal at the end of March 2024.
Give my family a shot to stop this development. A win for my family is a win for everyone that doesn't want this development, that would be impacted by the over 200 cars of added traffic and the hazards they will cause. Please contribute generously and help us fight!
