Hi, my name is Tunstall St. Michael’s church and I currently live in Suffolk. And I say ‘currently’ as my future is rather uncertain. I could talk for hours about the Kings and Queens I have outlived and the thousands of people who have come through my door over the centuries so you can see where their feet have worn the stone away. I have survived plague, countless wars, the Reformation and a lightning strike, and I have been a pillar of support and village life over the last seven hundred years and more. These days, my place in Tunstall is as much about opening my doors for community events as about faith, but without your help, I face terminal decline and eventual closure and with that, seven hundred years of village history as well as a place for peace and reflection. My immediate problem is that my side is starting to fall apart and the village wants to raise money to repair the East wall. In addition, we want everyone to have year-round access so are seeking an electrical upgrade and heaters. Any donation however small helps to save me, and donors of £50 and more will be displayed inside when the works are done.
Thank you for reading my story, and remember: I may be old, but I am still here for you and hope I will be for many more years.
