Every day across Birmingham and Solihull, people find themselves searching for help — support for their mental health, physical wellbeing, housing, finances, or simply someone to point them in the right direction during difficult times.
When life feels overwhelming, knowing where to turn can be one of the hardest parts.
That’s why The Waiting Room exists.
Run by Common Unity, The Waiting Room is a free online directory connecting people to hundreds of local health and wellbeing services in one easy-to-access place. It also signposts trusted national organisations, helping people better understand their options and take an active role in their health, wellbeing, and future.
Since launching in 2011, The Waiting Room has become far more than a directory — it has become a lifeline for thousands of people across our communities.
In the past year alone, the website was visited more than 150,000 times. Every day, it is used not only by local residents, but also by Police and Fire Services, GPs, social workers, and frontline professionals working across health and social care — all helping people find the support they urgently need.
Why We’re Fundraising
Access to support should never depend on someone’s ability to pay. Without new funding, this vital community resource could disappear.
This GoFundMe has been created to help keep The Waiting Room running — free for everyone, whenever they need it most.
Why Your Donation Matters
Your support will help us:
* Keep trusted health and wellbeing information free and accessible
* Support overstretched frontline services
* Reduce barriers for people seeking help during vulnerable moments
* Help communities find the right support faster and with less stress
For many people, The Waiting Room is the very first step toward getting help.
And sometimes, that first step changes everything.
By donating, you are helping protect a service that thousands of people already rely on — and making sure no one has to face difficult times alone, unsure where to turn next.
Thank you for standing with our communities and helping us continue this vital work.
