Save the Quinta Club for the Whole Community

The former Quinta Club was built by local residents in the 1960s to serve the community around the Village Green.

Now, after years of neglect and closure, there is a real opportunity to bring it back into community use - but also a real risk that the building could be lost permanently to uses that may not serve the wider local community.

Quinta Village Green Residents Association (QVGRA) has successfully triggered a six-month moratorium period under the Asset of Community Value process, giving the community a chance to put forward its own proposal for the future of the building.

But to do that properly, we urgently need your help.

WHAT THE MONEY IS FOR

The first stage of fundraising will help cover the essential feasibility and professional work needed to develop a credible community proposal, including:

  • independent valuation work
  • surveys and technical assessments
  • legal and governance costs
  • business planning
  • funding applications
  • community consultation and engagement
  • establishing the Community Interest Company (CIC)

This is the critical groundwork needed to determine whether the community can realistically secure the building for long-term public benefit.

THE VISION

Our aim is to explore the creation of a genuinely inclusive, locally-rooted community hub connected to the Village Green, with potential for:

  • flexible community space
  • wellbeing and social activities
  • local groups and services, including a garden kitchen cafe
  • environmental and educational projects
  • biodiversity and nature recovery initiatives
  • small-scale social enterprise to support sustainability

Most importantly, we want to ensure the site remains open and beneficial to the whole community for generations to come.

WHY THIS MATTERS NOW

The Council has indicated that financial value and deliverability will be major factors in deciding the future of the site.

That means if the community wants a real chance of success, we need to demonstrate:

  • public support,
  • organisational credibility,
  • and the ability to move forward professionally.

This campaign is the first step in making that possible.
