The Pink House is in Conway Arkansas and that has helped shelter so many LGBTQ youth and young adults. It is under the risk of being sold so we are trying to help raise money to help keep it in the family thats done so much for the LGBTQ community.
We understand that we are asking for a significant amount of money, so we also wanted to update everyone on what these funds will specifically go towards. Although the owner has a full time job, maintaining the bills AND the necessary repairs/outdated systems simultaneously has proven to be difficult. The funds will go to help pay for the following repairs, some of which have been competed, however, debt is still owed on them.
New roof(competed), electrical and plumbing updates, banister, foundation/porch repair(completed), and insurance.
The owner inherited the house in far worse condition that it is in, and has invested as much money as possible to help keep the Pink House, and all it stands for, afloat. The house means so much to our community and is a key part of LGBTQ+ history in Arkansas so we want to do all that we can to keep that legacy alive.
75,000 is asking a lot, but I believe it is worth it for this cause. It would take to cover funds until it becomes a historical landmark in 2020. Other financial options are available when that happens.

About The Pink House:
In 1986, Schenck and Loyd moved to Conway and purchased the landmark home.
The two became politically and socially active in the mid-90s in light of the Defense of Marriage Act's (DOMA) enactment and belittling remarks about same-sex rights by then-Governor Mike Huckabee.
The "Pink House" also served as a starting point for the Conway Pride Parade, the first pride parade in Arkansas, for the last 16 years. The initial parades were met with much hostility and counter protests, death threats, and even gun violence. This did not deter the mission. For years, Schenck, a worker at the historic Stonewall Inn during the riots, and Loyd, a veteran of the Vietnam War, continued to quietly house kids that were expelled from their homes for being gay, and now their legacy lives on through their children.
