Our community has a rare chance to preserve a piece of Arlington's history—the Penrose Trolley House. This historic structure once served as part of the trolley system that connected neighborhoods, families, and opportunities. Today, it stands as one of the few remaining reminders of that era, and we cannot let it be lost to development.
We are raising funds to save and restore the trolley house, giving it new life as a permanent home for the Black Heritage Museum of Arlington and a shared community space. This is more than just saving a building—it is about honoring history, creating a gathering place, and ensuring future generations understand the stories that shaped our neighborhood.
Why This Matters
• The trolley house is one of the last of its kind in Arlington.
• The Black Heritage Museum has long searched for a permanent home, and this site could finally provide that stability.
• Preserving the trolley connects us to our shared past and provides a unique, meaningful space for community events, education, and history.
What Your Contribution Supports
• Securing and protecting the trolley house from demolition.
• Restoration efforts to maintain its historic character.
• Making the site safe and accessible for community use.
• Establishing it as a permanent museum and cultural space.
How You Can Help
• Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to saving this important landmark. Your support ensures that Arlington's history isn't erased, and that the Black Heritage Museum finally has a permanent home to share its invaluable stories.
Together, we can save the trolley. Please donate today and share this campaign with your friends, neighbors, and networks.
Let us honor the past, protect the present, and build a legacy for the future.
