The New Waterford & District Community Centre needs your support!
"You’re sitting at the kitchen table thinking about your younger years, and the thought of figure skating or playing hockey at the New Waterford and District Community Centre comes to mind.
You recall the memories of getting up on a cold winter morning and venturing to “the rink” and winning championships and competitions with your friends – a moment that made your town proud.
Maybe it was your children or grandchildren that brought you to the community centre. Watching them learn to skate, compete, and make the same memories you had growing up. Wouldn’t that bring a smile to your face?
Flash forward to now.
What if you found out the community centre was no longer in operation? How would you deal with the thought of having to leave your hometown just to have the opportunity to skate, play or watch hockey?
While nobody wants the community centre to close any time soon, venue manager Kevin Forward admits the centre needs support from the community and major upgrades to keep the doors open for years to come."

The NWDCC is owned and operated by the community and is not a Cape Breton Regional Municipality-owned facility - it is also more than just a rink. The venue holds several events during the offseason including weddings, concerts, sporting events, beer bashes, dances, and more! (Cape Breton Post)
