Save the Masonic Home of Des Moines! Support the Appeal!

Let's protect Des Moines' greatest work of architecture! The Final EIS is out for the Masonic Home/Landmark on the Sound and a demolition permit will likely be issued by the City of Des Moines on August 8th, 2025. We are hiring attorneys to file an appeal on the EIS and demolition permit decision and will contest it. We have already raised $7500 outside of Go Fund Me and retained the attorney services of Bricklin & Newman for the appeal. We would like to keep raising funds up to $50,000 to strengthen our case and hire experts who can testify on key issues to support our case.

If there is a surprise on August 8th and the City denies the demolition permit, then the appeal will be called off and all monies refunded to supporters. However, everything the City has said and done up to this point indicates they will issue the demolition permit.

Any amount helps and goes a long way toward helping us protect Des Moines finest work of architecture and cornerstone of our City's world class cultural heritage.
