Save a 50+ Year Martial Arts Legacy - Support Dennis Brown Shaolin Wu Shu Center
For over five decades, the Dennis Brown Shaolin Wu Shu Center has been more than a martial arts school - it has been a home for generations of students and families. It is a place where discipline is built, confidence is restored, and lives are shaped through the teachings of traditional Kung Fu and Tai Chi.
Since 1999, our current location has stood as a pilar in the community - a space where children, adults, and families ("coaches") come together not only to train, but to grow stronger in mind, body, and spirit.
Today we are facing a critical moment - and we are asking your support to help preserve what has been built over a lifetime.
A Critical Moment
We are now at a crossroads.
Without immediate support, we may be forced to leave the space we have called home since 1999 by April 30.
This is not simply about a location - it is about preserving a place where generations have trained, where families have gathered, and where young people have found direction, discipline, and confidence.
Our goal is to ensure that Grand Master Brown can continue his life's work in this space - with the same pride, dignity, and commitment that have defined his journey.
A Legacy of Leadership and Service
Grand Master Dennis Brown began his martial arts journey in Washington, D.C. in 1964. From training in the parks of the city to becoming a nationally recognized competitor and respected instructor, his path has been defined by discipline, vision, and service.
Over the decades, he has trained countless students, led multiple schools, and founded the US Capitol Classics China Open - one of the nation's most respected martial arts events. His contributions have been recognized locally, nationally, and internationally.
But his greatest legacy is not found in titles or recognition - it is found in the lives he has helped shape. Generations of families continue to seek him out for guidance, structure, and a sense of belonging.
Resilience Through Uncertain Times
Like many across the nation, we faced one of our greatest challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, when our doors were closed for 15 months.
Through determination, sacrifice, and the unwavering support of our community, we fought our way back - rebuilding, reconnecting, and continuing our mission.
Today, we are once again feeling the impact of challenges affecting families nationwide. Job loss, furloughs, housing instability, and uncertainty have touched many of the families who make up our school. Some of our international students have had to return to their home countries due to changing circumstances.
Even in the midst of this, enrollment is growing again - a reflection of the continued trust and value placed on Grand Master Brown's teachings.
However, the pace of recovery has not been fast enough to overcome the financial strain we have endured.
How You Can Help
Your support - of any amount - will help us;
- Maintain a stable training environment for our students
- Continue serving families during uncertain times
- Preserve a legacy that has impacted generations
- Keep this community space alive for the future
If you have ever trained with us, supported us, attended our events, or believe in the value of what we provide - we humbly ask for your support.
With Gratitude
For years, this school has been here for its students, families, and community.
Today, we ask our community to stand with us.
Together, we can ensure that this legacy continues - for the next generation and beyond.
With since appreciation,
Dennis and Andrena Brown
