The Cuckfield Society is campaigning to stop the building of a new town on the beautiful land between Cuckfield and Ansty, shown in the photo above.
Last October the Cuck-Stye plan, for 1,450 houses, effectively merging the villages of Ansty and Cuckfield, was rejected by Mid-Sussex councillors, who voted against a strong recommendation from their senior planning officers.
It was refused due to the impact on the countryside and the location of the site. The Say No To Cuck-Stye campaign has repeated over the last four years that whilst there is a need for new more affordable housing in Mid-Sussex, the developer proposes to drop thousands of new residents into the middle of the countryside, away from key infrastructure and public transport links.
As expected the developer is going to appeal the October 2025 decision. Whilst we await confirmation of the appeal date, it is important that we reinvigorate our fundraising efforts to ensure we can employ the best legal and planning advice. We appeal to all our local support that now is the time to step forward, dig deep and help us raise £50,000.
So, if you care about the future of both Cuckfield and Ansty and don’t want the roads permanently jammed, the water supply not coping with demand and all local services and schools strained to breaking point please help by giving generously.
If we act together now, we can preserve this beautiful countryside for generations to come.
Please give as much as you can and share this with your neighbours and friends who may feel the same way.
