Save the heart of our community

Hi I'm Austin, the Church Warden for Baxenden St John's Church. We urgently need help to save this building, a building that sits in the heart of our Baxenden community. This is an important community centre as well as a church and unfortunately the building has suffered major water damage over the past years. We urgently need to repair the spire and roof to keep this building open and available to the 4000 people in Baxenden village and the wider community of Accrington. The risk is it becomes unusable, closes and sits derelict in the heart of Baxenden.
This village doesn’t have a community centre or village hall; the church fulfils this role. It’s a vibrant place in which the community meets, with over 120 hours of community activity per month. Baxenden St John's is the site of an important war memorial, has a large children’s work programme and has close links with the local primary school only meters away. The church is a well-used community facility, with local singing, yoga, and playgroups using the building and its facilities. The church is used for an after school club, birthday parties and is a meeting place for vulnerable families.
We are a charity (charity number 1137246) and we appreciate any help you can provide to save this important community building.
