Save the Grange Hall & United Church

Donation protected
The United Church & Grange Hall have been a staple within our community for almost two centuries.

Based on the information provided through the Town of Innisfil's Heritage Committee; the Church was originally built in Bell Ewart when it was a thriving lumber community in the late 1850's. Initially, the Church was Methodist based. In 1902 the congregation had the Church moved to its current location just 2km away in Lefroy. The Church seen a variety of Faith based members during its time until 1925 when it was officially declared the United Church of Canada.

The Grange Hall was erected by the "Patrons of Industry", a.k.a. "The Grange". This was a Farming Organization which spread rapidly across North America in the 1870s & 1880s. When The Grange closed in 1910, the Hall became the Lefroy Community Hall, support financially by the Rate Payers of S.S. #4, and used for Community meetings and events. This building was also twice used as a school over its time.
When the Lefroy Continuation School was opened in 1923 it used the Hall until the old Presbyterian Church was remodelled into a two-room school.

Since that time, the Hall has been repurposed and used as a Community Hall available to be rented out by Community members and folks from abroad. The Hall has hosted many great organizations which have also worked to ensure Community Food Security and Community Engagement.

The Church and Grange Hall need renovations and repairs to continue to provide these amazing spaces within our Community; for that, we need to help get them some funding on the table.

There has been recent approval to host a WEEKLY Youth Night at The Grange Hall which would provide local youth with a safe space to attend and enjoy indoor/outdoor activities as well as hands-on educational projects. To ensure we are reaching as many Community members as possible, updates to some of the equipment, programming and building are necessary.

Every dollar counts and will help to ensure the continuation of a Community Staple as well as keep the doors open to our welcoming United Church of Canada.
